CSI International Acquires FileMarvel from DPI Software.

CSI International continues to strengthen its z/OS File and Storage Management product line through a combination of internal development and strategic acquisitions. The recent acquisition of FileMarvel from DPI Software enables CSI to provide a low-cost and high-quality suite of File and Storage Management solutions for z/OS customers.“When we went to market with our Data-Miner solution, former Easytrieve customers made it clear that they had other solutions (and vendors) that they would like to replace," said John Rankin, President and Founder of CSI International. "We feel that FileMarvel will be a very strong replacement solution for products like FileAid from Compuware. Similar to replacing CA Easytrieve from CA, a customer replacing FileAid with FileMarvel, can expect to retain a minimum of 99.9% of the features and functionality; and experience a reduction in their current and future licensing costs," Mr. Rankin concluded. FileMarvel is available for download from the CSI website at:

CSI International Lowers Licensing Charges for z9™ Users on z/VSE V4

CSI International today announced support for IBM’s Midrange Workload License Charge (MWLC) licensing model. CSI will support the full-capacity and sub-capacity MWLC options for customers running z/VSE V4 on IBM z9 Business Class and z9 Enterprise Class servers. The CSI implementation will result in lower licensing fees for full-capacity licenses and additional savings may be achieved by moving to the sub-capacity licensing option. Customers choosing the sub-capacity licensing model will submit their utilization rates to CSI via the IBM Sub Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) report.

“z/VSE customers are excited to see a true sub-capacity pricing model on their platform. We look forward to working with enterprises of all sizes as we continue to introduce new technology solutions and support innovative pricing programs,” stated John Rankin, CEO, CSI International.

MWLC will be available to qualifying customers across the entire CSI z/VSE V4 product portfolio. A complete list of CSI solutions and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) may be found on the CSI website by clicking here.

CSI International Announces Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Support for Multiple Solutions

CSI International announced today that the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), as documented by the U.S. National Institute of Standards (NIST) in FIPS-197, has been added to the cryptographic routines included with the SSL feature of TCP/IP for VSE. The FIPS-197 publication containing the details of this new cipher can be downloaded from: http://csrc.nist.gov/CryptoToolkit/tkencryption.html

With this update, SSL for VSE includes support for AES with key lengths of 128, 192, and 256 bits. Operation modes include both Electronic Feedback (ECB) and Cipher Block Chaining (CBC). AES is the U.S. government-approved replacement for the 30+ year old DES encryption standard and is cryptographically superior and more efficient than the algorithm it replaces.

The AES-128, AES-192, and AES-256 ciphers are available on all z/architecture and System/390 platforms running VSE 2.3 and higher. When installed and operated under z/VSE 3.1 and higher, SSL will automatically use the "CP Assist for Cryptographic Functions (CPACF)." This hardware-implemented assist greatly reduces the resources required for encryption.

The CSI International SSL implementation has been reviewed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. National Security Agency and has been granted a classification of "ENC-unrestricted." Therefore, the CSI SSL implementation can be exported to any country not on the U.S. embargoed list. Interested parties may view: http://www.bis.doc.gov/Entities/default.htm for more complete details on U.S. export regulations. Currently, the U.S. Department of Commerce prohibits the download and/or sale of this encryption product if you are in, will ship to, or plan to sell to the following countries: Cuba, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Rwanda, or Syria.

In addition to TCP/IP for VSE, AES functionality is also integrated into CSI's Dr. Crypto (Secure Backup and Recovery), Entrée (Secure Web-based Transaction Server), HFS (Store Encrypted Files directly on VSE), and SecureFTP solutions.
